Jacobs Journal of Clinical Trials is a branch of healthcare science that determines the safety and effectiveness of medications, devices, diagnostic products and treatment regimens intended for human use. Clinical research involves a particular person or group of people or that uses materials from humans, such as their behavior or samples of their tissue. Clinical trials are experiments done in clinical research that follows a pre-defined plan or protocol. These studies often involve expert teams from academic, governmental and pharmaceutical sectors. In some cases, clinical trials seek to test the efficacy of a new drug for a disease which has no proven effective therapy.

Jacobs Journal of Clinical Trials is an international peer reviewed scholarly journal whose primary aim is the dissemination and development of knowledge about the design, conduct, analysis, synthesis, history, ethics, regulation and clinical or policy impact of all types of clinical trials and related medical research methodologies.
